Crossroads International

- Where need meets Resource

There is a lot more information on the Crossroads International website but here is a taster of what they do.

Crossroads is an amazing charity, it takes high quality second-hand goods which would normally be land filled in Hong Kong and sends them to many very needy places around the world. To date they have shipped goods to more than 45 countries with requests from another 45, this includes everything from small local shipment through to 40 foot containers full to bursting with goods which are priceless to their recipients.

Crossroads takes great care to make sure that the goods will be used wisely and that the right goods are sent. They will only send goods to a recipient group who is accountable to Crossroads and ensures the goods are used wisely. Also, when the goods are being packed they make sure that they meet the groups requirements as closely as possible so there is never any wastage.

So how will the money raised help Crossroads to ultimately change the world?

Well this is how the "Crossroads Equation" works:

"At Crossroads, the equation is turned the other way around. We do not send a percentage of a donated dollar to people in need. Instead, a donated dollar can be "multiplied" up to 20 times its worth in the goods it allows us to send internationally. The donated dollar can be "multiplied" up to 85 times its worth at the local level, where processing costs are far lower. Your gift multiplies itself!"

As the goods which Crossroads sends out are given free (in Hong Kong they are considered as rubbish) the money is only spent on processing charges etc & therefore the value of the goods sent is much much more than the cost to send it, additionally the value which the recipients place on the goods is even higher still, sometimes it can even be a matter of life and death.
